How to Update Facebook Status using Outlook in Office
If you use Outlook in your workplace as your default mail client, you probably have it running all the time. So while you are not sending mail on Outlook, let's see how you can access your Facebook account on it.
FBLook is a nifty plugin that lets you update your Facebook status, see new friend statuses and have a look at Facebook messages right from Outlook.
To begin, download and install FBLook on your computer. FBLook is an Outlook plugin and integrate itself to Outlook automatically after installation.
After installation, open your Outlook and click on the Add-Ins tab. In order to use FBLook, you need to login to Facebook and authenticate yourself. FBLook will open a browser window and ask you to login to Facebook. After you have logged in, return to Outlook and OK to continue.'
One you have authenticated your Facebook account you can update your Facebook status directly from Outlook. You can also have a look at the status updates made by your friends and new requests and notification using the drop-down control.
Though the application keeps us updated right from Outlook itself, one cannot post comments and like a story directly. To do so, you will have to open the browser page.
You can, however, set your status to the name of the song you're playing in iTunes or WMP.
Note: All the status updates you make can be seen by your friends or any other custom list you have created on Facebook.
If you are on a shared machine don't forget to logout from Facebook before you leave your system.
FBLook System Requirements
- Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 with the latest Service Pack.
- Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010 with the latest Service Pack.
- FBLook does no work with Outlook Express.
Conclusion
FBLook is a decent way to access, or I must say, keep yourself updates with what's going on between your friends on Facebook. Furthermore, I recommend readers to use the plugin only in coffee breaks and do not let Facebook distract you while you are working.
